Cot Farm Trig Point

The Cot Farm trig point bag was an awful drive to a lovely location! From an A-road, to a B-road… to what was deemed to be a road, or what was left on one anyway! My car was not designed for this one but it got me there!

Over a cattle grid and I was on Ewyas Harold Common where I pulled up to some lovely views.

After wondering what would be around the common (cows / sheep / horses) it was clear just around the corner. There was a herd of brown horses! It was a nice day and they were all gathered under a tree by the benches.

This trig point bag involved following the hedge to the right of you and following it as it bends right. Down the slope there are some metal gates with a stile to the left of them.

Head over the stile and to the top of the field.

As you reach the brow of the hill. You see the Cot Farm trig point up on your left. It’s near a gate into a field of sheep and lambs.

After past experiences, it was nice to have an easy, scenic and pleasant bag. No angry landowners, no bulls and no rain on this one!

Apart from the last bit of the drive, this was a nice one. Not particularly challenging, in a nice location with some equine company too! The common is huge, with loads to see so you can make a half a day of this one. Therefore you can have a walk round, take a picnic. Plenty of room for cars – I can imagine this is a popular spot in the summer! However, I avoided the soggy grass of early May since summer hasn’t yet got the memo in Herefordshire!

As always, thanks for reading. If you enjoyed this or found it helpful in any way, do give me a follow on Instagram!
