For the Craswall trig point bag, I parked at the Black Hill Car Park. Knowing how small the car park was and how few spaces there were, I left early to nab a space. Problem was, I wasn’t the only one with this idea!
Being in the same area as the Bonnylands trig point and the Urishay Common trig point, I already had very low expectations for the last leg of the journey. I wasn’t wrong! The last 3 miles there or thereabouts was bloody awful. Narrow, with few passing points. It got worse the closer I got to the car park! I did manage to get there in one piece and there was a space on the left.
This was an easy one. Just follow the trail for about a mile and a half from the car park.
Up the hill then along the ridgeline until you come across the trig pillar. Nothing to it!… Except for the the slope, the gusty winds and the rain!
The rain spoiled it a bit. However, when it cleared up, the views weren’t half bad!
The trail was pretty busy with walkers heading out and walkers heading back.
Craswall trig point in the bag!
However, after the recent deluges, the trig pillar was standing proud within its own little moat. Made touching it a little more tricky, but still bagged! All bar the crap roads, this is one to revisit. Bagging this in the middle of July should have made it more enjoyable. However, the ‘Great British Summer’ seemed to have come to and end after June! If it comes back for an encore, it’s worth doing again for sure!
I could have carried on further along the trail, but as the weather turned, I decided to head back after bagging the trig point. If this short and sweet write-up has left you wanting more, check out my other Herefordshire trig bags here.
