Lyde Cross Trig Point

Another early Sunday morning start to bag the Lyde Cross trig point!

For this one, I mixed it up a bit. Every trig point I’d bagged to date have been south of Hereford as I live southside so just makes sense. However, like I mentioned, I mixed it up a bit today. I headed up to Lyde Court (postcode: HR1 3AE). Immediately as you turn in toward Lyde Court, there’s a sign stating it’s private property. However, there was a layby immediately after this sign on the left. So, it was early, the trig wasn’t far away and I’d hoped nobody would have any issues with me parking up. There was plenty of space to pass and pull in. Thank you to the owners for not having a problem!

Anyway, from my navigational homework, I knew roughly where I was heading. Thing about trig bagging is as long as you’re in the right area, look for the high point and head there! This one was no different.

At top of the field, you can see the Lyde Cross trig point sitting proudly… In the adjacent field…

 Hmmmmmm…

This wasn’t going to beat me! There was a style at the very top, a bit past the trig point itself.

Clearly, we were allowed in this field… But it was the wrong field!

However, I’m obviously not the first trig bagger here, and others have created a well-trodden route into the cow field, over the two barbed wire fences through a break in the hedgerow.

I clambered over the barbed wire and the brambles and double-backed up the hill on the right side of the hedge and there it was!

There it is - the Lyde Cross trig point!

There’s probably a better, more accessible route but if you go my way, prepare yourself for that bit! If you go my way, good luck! Let me know over on Instagram or leave a comment if there’s a better way too!
