Orcop Hill Trig Point – an easy walk up the road, up an epic incline and into a field!
For the Orcop Hill trig point bag, I once again set off early on a Sunday so that I could cheekily park at the Fountain Inn. I didn’t want to impose and it didn’t open until midday so thought the landlord / landlady wouldn’t mind. I was back in no time without issue so thanks for the use of the car park – appreciate it!
It was about a mile and a quarter there and the same back. I was already fairly high up in the world as there was a lot of the white stuff everywhere!
There were some great views along the way!
It was a chilly walk up to a right turn toward The Wagon Above The World which looked like a cool little place! Check out this spot too!
The walk up to it included a tremendously steep track… And some ducks!
At the top of this slope, head past the house on the left to a T-junction. At this T-junction – head left.
The track narrows and just before The Wagon Above The World, there is a right turn into a field.
If you come here in the spring – take heed of the warning of the bull! In mid January however, the field was empty – fortunately!
From this stile, head slightly left the the copse in the field. However, it’s easy to spot as they’re the only trees in the field.
The Orcop Hill trig point is sat proudly overlooking some incredible views. Not bad in winter but I bet it’s even more amazing in summer – may make a return visit perhaps!
