The EPONA 100 includes sections of the Cambrian Way, Offa’s Dyke and the Beacons Way
The 100 mile ultramarathon journey is entirely attainable with proper training and strategy – so the organisers say! While the course features a challenging 17,500 feet of elevation gain, it remains runnable (unlikely though!), I’ll likely walk and enjoy some of Wales’ most stunning landscapes. The route beautifully integrates the trails of Offa’s Dyke, the Cambrian Way, and the Beacons Way, offering a scenic tour packed with memorable highlights that will linger in both my memory and my muscles!

Here’s a rundown of every mountain I’ll be tackling in sequence along the EPONA 100 mile ultramarathon route: Sugar Loaf, Skirrid Fawr, The Blorenge, Gilwern Hill, Blaen Onneu, Mynydd Llangynidr, Pant y Creigiau, Bryn Melyn, Tor y Foel, Table Mountain, Pen Cerrig Calch, Pen Allt Mawr, Pen Tywn Glas, Mynydd Llysiau, Pen Trumau, Waun Fach, Pen Y Gadair Fawr, Rhos Dirion, Twmpa, Hay Bluff, Twyn Llech, Black Mountain, and Sugar Loaf again. I’ll have conquered a remarkable total of 23 mountains along the route!
This page also acts as my 100 mile ultramarathon training accountability check.
Every year I try to set a personal goal and this year in 2024, the goal is to successfully complete a 100 mile ultramarathon as well as beat last year’s figures. If you’re wondering, last year I clocked up 3413.36 miles running, walking, hiking (and cycling to work). I have completed numerous 5ks, 10ks, half marathons, full marathons, 30, 40, 50 and 64 mile ultras so 100 is the next natural progression I guess. Proving there’s life in the old dog yet!
To keep checking my progress, I’ll post the monthy Runkeeper statistics below. If I start slacking, please tell me!

I have always been fairly active. In around 2015, when apps were all the rage, I discovered Runkeeper. At the time however, Strava wouldn’t work on my phone so it was this one. With all the legacy data it has logged (that I can’t transfer), I’ve just carried on using it. This is a cool chart I found showing the activities I undertaken. Positive thing is the graph is showing a positive trend – no signs of slowing up!
