New House Farm Trig Point

The New House Farm trig point bag is an extremely short, sweet and easy bag! The only challenging thing about it were the narrow lanes to get to Risbury! There’s a half a mile chicken run with a very narrow lane with little to no passing points! Therefore the butt was seriously clenched for those couple of minutes on that section!

There were a few horse riders about too. Fortunately, as it was fairly early on a Sunday morning, there wasn’t much traffic about to worry about.

The narrow lane opens out into the centre of Risbury.

Plan was to pull up at the junction of the driveway to the farm where the trig pillar was located. There was an old boy out cleaning his new Beetle – I asked if I could pull up outside his house (it was in sort of a pull-in off the road). He had no problem – told him I’d be minutes – which I was!

A little walk up the track / driveway to the farm at the top was all there was to it.

There was a house at the top – ‘Tree Tops’. I was heading to it to ask if I could bag the trig point when somebody was driving toward me. I flagged them down – again – he was very welcoming.

Pointed the way, up through the farmyard and past the building at the back by a tree. There were a few cows in the barn and a sign for a bull – but I didn’t see one (nor did I care to look for one after the ‘stampede’ at the Hill Farm trig point bag)!

Hopped into a field with a single, pretty horse and headed to the back of the farm building. I could see the tree so literally everything about this one was easy!

On the way back down the track, a neighbouring field with another horse had seen me. Coming to the gate to see what was happening!

However, not to overstay my welcome, I headed back to the car with a little bit of anxiety. Why? I had to negotiate those narrow lanes again to go home. That short trip back to the B-road was a little more eventful. Encountering several oncoming vehicles! After that it was plain sailing back on the A49.

Another one to check off anyway!

In addition to this, check out my visual journal over on Instagram to accompany this as well if you like!
