The Morgans Hill trig point bag involved a short trip north up Leominster way. Turning off at the roundabout by the Cadbury factory, I headed toward Brierley. Brierley was a tiny little place so parking wasn’t not plentiful! I pulled in to a space in front of a house, however, there was space for about two cars in front of these gates.
Then it was a case of back-tracking to the footpath / bridleway into a sheep field.
Head up the track until you reach another gate with a hi-tec locking mechanism!
Not knowing the exact location of the pillar, I was aware it was in this field. I headed up to the highest point (as you do) only to find… Nothing! Double checking OS Maps and Google Maps, it was actually located in the middle of the field – not at its highest point!
However you won’t see it if you entered the field the way I did. Conveniently, I had to get to the high point to see where the trig pillar was anyway… And there it was!
The Morgans Hill trig point!
Sat in another field of sheep with some half decent views and prickly shrubbery! Clearly a place Blod and Don were fond of – I can see why!
That’s another one done. Short and sweet. Not the best but not the worst either and another one I can check off. At this point, I’m almost into single figures now with this 2023 trig bagging challenge! However, Brierley was the kind of place that felt like you were being watched… And I was! Judging by the interest, I was the most intriguing thing to hit Brierley in quite some time!
