The original Coros Apex was a marvel in its own right with a sleek, durable design ideal for both everyday wear and the rigors of outdoor activities. The Apex 2 retains this ethos but with notable enhancements. The Apex 2 feels more robust and refined, with a slightly larger display that offers better clarity and easier navigation through its enriched interface. One significant difference is that the Apex 1 had a silicone strap, and the Apex 2 has a nylon Velcro strap.

Performance & Features

The Apex 1 was no slouch in performance, providing comprehensive tracking features that catered well to runners, cyclists and multisport athletes. However, the Apex 2 elevates the experience with a faster processor, improving the responsiveness and smoothness of navigating through menus and apps. Battery life, a strong point of the Apex 1, remains impressive in the Apex 2, but with enhanced optimisation that seems to squeeze out more from every charge.

Software & User Interface

While both watches offer the intuitive Coros experience, the Apex 2 introduces a more polished software environment with additional customization options and new features. These include an upgraded heart rate sensor, a built-in temperature sensor, and a more detailed approach to workout analysis, which are significant boons for any athlete focused on detailed metrics and performance improvement.
