2022 was a big year for me – I was turning 40. So, I made it a year to remember! In my other blog, I share how I celebrated the milestone – taking part in First In Events’ Load-Bearing Fan Dance!
However, between April and September I was taking part in the Pegasus Slam 2022. The Pegasus Slam was 6 events, 240 miles of running and 23,515 feet of elevation. Finishing the South CANUM, the HOWUM, the VOGUM, North CANUM, the EDDUM and the RIDUM. These were completed within one calendar year, therefore completing the Pegasus Slam and earning a spot in the 2022 Hall of Fame!
From the golden coastline of South Wales to the mountain tops of Mid Wales, this brutal series of events showcases the best trails and views Wales has to offer. The challenge starts in April and after that the goal is to finish an ultra-marathon a month up until September.
The events were as follows:
The South CANUM – Saturday 2 April – 40 miles
The HOWUM – Saturday 7 May – 30 miles
The VOGUM – Saturday 4 June – 40 miles
The North CANUM – Saturday 2 July – 50 miles
The EDDUM – Saturday 6 August – 50 miles
The RIDUM – Saturday 3 September – 30 miles
Each one as unique and challenger as the other. However, the EDDUM however was horrific! However, it was on this particular event that I latched on to a group at a checkpoint and was introduced to the idea of ‘trig bagging’ so every cloud has a silver lining! Thanks Mrs Trig A Lot!
