Off the back of a great year of marathons & ultramarathons in 2022, I’m looking for a new challenge minus the cost of entering events! Something to keep me moving while exploring new areas of the county of Herefordshire.
Thank you Trig Bagger Herefordshire for popping up and capturing my interest!
On a Friday lunchtime at work, I plot the route to the trig points I’ve decided on bagging the coming weekend.
Using the OS Maps app, which is much, much better on desktop as you can select an option to show the trig points to give me a better idea of where they are. The mobile app is useless… Unless I’m using it wrong, but I couldn’t find an option to display them on that. However, there’s also a trig pillar map on trigbagging.co.uk that I’ll be cross referencing too.
So, desktop at work it is. I can cross reference the points on Google Maps to see where I can park and were to start. My GPXs I’m uploading to the blogs don’t go directly to the trig points but as I know roughly where they were, I had to look for it. It isn’t far off the route anyway! Plotaroute.com only allows you to follow paths etc so you can’t select a point in a field or on a hill – just keep an eye out when you’re getting close!
No doubt in the summer the routes will increase in distance, however my challenge is to bag all 70 trig points in Herefordshire in 2023, so the first couple with be short and sweet!
I’ll be using the Trig Bagger Herefordshire book I bought from Amazon (link here).
This is so I can check them all off and keep track of the ones I’ve done mainly. I chose one only a few minutes down the road for the first trig to bag. From what I’ve found on Google, an obvious one just to ease into the whole trig bagging thing!
I’ll be picking some trig points at random each week. There won’t be any structure to it! I will be creating a GPX on plotaroute.com just to have a rough idea of where I was going! If you’d like to use them, I’ll include a GPX on each blog with all my bagged trig points. Hopefully it’ll make life a little easier for you and me!
I’ll be using my trusty Coros Apex multisport watch too. I’ll upload my GPXs I’ve created just for peace of mind that I’m heading in the right direction!

Hi there,
your trigbagging site is fantastic – the best i’ve seen.
It’s amazing how 90 year old lumps of concrete can hold such an appeal to so many people.
The Instagram page is a work of art too.
I don’t do the Socials myself – but I do make model trigs – you may have seen them on other posts.
I’m at trigfigs.co.uk
Now then – I’m willing to let you have any model trig for free – I can put your logo on if you wish. You’re then at liberty to do nowt with it or put it on Instagram.
If interested (or want me to bugger off !) let me know.
I’ll send you an offer code if interested.
All the best,
Cheers,
Graham

Hi Graham!
Thankyou for visiting the site & thankyou for the kind words – I really appreciate it! The idea was to create a useful resource to inform / inspire others – I was surprised nobody had blogged about the Herefordshire trigs before now so I thought I’d fill that void! Tried something a bit different on Insta too – thankyou for the compliment!
I have seen your trigs before now, fellow baggers have shared pictures and if I’m honest – I wanted one, they’re awesome! I would love to take you up on your kind offer, thanks so much! I can be one of the gang with one of these gems and although the Herefordshire trigs have been bagged, there are more adventures afoot and I would love to take the trig with me and feature it on my travels – especially in the summer when I embark on my 100 mile ultramarathon in Wales – which include a few trigs along the route!
I’ll drop you an email now, thanks again!
