Bunkers Hill Trig Point

The Bunkers Hill trig point was, I’d say, the most challenging one to date! Parking, finding it, getting to it – none of these were particularly easy on this bag!

Found a place to park just down the road I had to head up. I couldn’t find any public footpaths anywhere on Google Maps or Plotaroute. So, this was going to be a ropy one!

Parked in front of some gates

I found this friendly looking gate. I say friendly, as the signage got a bit more threatening further on up! Anyway, I wasn’t the first person to head this way and not likely to be the last either! There was no need to climb over the gate – there was a massive gap in the hedge to the left of it!

Entrance to the field

I headed right, keeping to the edge of the field and headed up. The beauty of trig bagging is head for the high point and you can’t go far wrong (as long as you’re in the right area of course!)

Hedge divider

There was a way through the hedge about halfway up. It was a bit overgrown and prickly. However, I found on the way back, you could go around the hedge which had a gap in it!

Came across the remains of a sheep which was interesting.

Then there was were these welcoming signs into a woodland graveyard which was a bit sad to see.

Head to the gap and go left

Warning Signs

There were also some shotgun shells around too which added to the friendly vibe!

The Bunkers Hill trig point – not for the faint of heart!

There were some tracks just past the signs which headed left.

Follow the tracks

More tracks

Follow these to a gate. It’s not the first gate you need to go through, go around and it’s this one…

There’s a wooden fence to the left of the gate you can go over into the field. Head up to the top of this field and there it is! I did however head up the side of the field originally, only to discover I did need to be in the field.

The warning signs warranted the sturdy barbed wire fence which I didn’t fancy tackling, so went back to the gate.

Another Warning Sign

The Bunkers Hill trig point had some great views. However, I didn’t hang about long as the ominous no trespassing signs were obviously there for a reason!

That’s another one bagged anyway! I’d be curious to know if there’s another way of bagging this one as I couldn’t find any routes at all. Let me know over on Instagram if you know a route or leave a comment below!
