The Capler Camp trig point bag was a bit of a hidden gem if I’m honest! I parked in a roadside car park just before the woods. There’s an interesting model of the River Wye by where I parked.
I had a route plotted through the woods… However there was a sign pointing the way through a field, Knowing I could just come back the way I planned to go, I took a gamble through the route marked through the barley fields instead. Why not?!
Part of this was along the Wye Valley Walk route – a route that I might challenge myself and walk the whole of. Several trigs have been near or on this route so it’s not a walk that will be short of things to see!
The marked route skirted the fields then through a kissing gate past a house. The lady there was super friendly – described the route back to the car park which was exactly the route I had originally planned to take. This little trip became a mile and a half looped walk!
Past the house, put of the driveway and through a gate on the left. You can see it from the gate…
Of course, I’m talking about the Capler Camp trig point!
Up the trail and there it was. Great views too!
The track lead past an old cottage then it opens up into a big green space. After that, it’s a short walk through the Capler Woods back to the car park. Turned out to be a nice little outing this one!
There were also a fair few wooden obelisks – is that what you’d call them…? I was intrigued about their purpose and the writing on them. Did a Google search but it didn’t answer the question. Let me know what they are, I’m genuinely interested!
