Right, straight off the bat, the Campfield New Trig Point is now, in fact, the easiest trig bag so far. I know in past bags, like the Cockyard Tump trig point or the Burghill trig point for instance, I made a bold claim that these were easy. However, in my quest to bag all 70 trig points in Herefordshire, that accolade now firmly changes hands to the Campfield New trig point. At the time of publishing this blog anyway!
How so?
Well, it was so easy and so obvious, I actually missed it at first glance! I pulled into a nearby lay by and expected the trig point to be somewhere near the roadside in the adjacent field. Using an Ordnance Survey map suggested this.
So, I pulled up, headed for the gate (which was open already which was handy) and expected to see the Campfield New trig point easily.
However, I couldn’t, which was a bit confusing!
I back tracked to the verge to get a signal on my phone to check the map again before aimlessly walking around the field. Just waiting for the app to load so I looked around at the scenery and the steady flow of traffic.
Something caught my eye… In the hedge… Literally in front of me!
There it was sat in the hedge! The Campfield New trig point. FFS, I felt pretty stupid! It was so obvious now!
The drama locating it far outweighed any interest in the pillar itself. A bit dilapidated and neglected although the hedge was trimmed around it.
So, yes, this one was easy. 10 out 10 for that. Not much to report otherwise and even less to photograph!
However, the easiest roadside bag to date – FACT. Sorry Cockyard Tump and Burghill, I had to walk up a tiny hill for you. For this one, I just had to get out of the car!
I won’t drag this one out, but if you’d like to follow me on Instagram out of pity, please do!
